Welcome, January 2013 Cohort
Congratulations, and welcome to Nursing@Georgetown! On behalf of all of us here, we would like to express how pleased we are that you have joined the graduate nursing program. As you know, nursing is a rewarding career that enables you to improve the health and well being of individuals, families, and communities.
This is a very special year for you to start your educational journey toward becoming an advanced nursing leader as Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS) is celebrating its 110th anniversary. Since 1903, we have been advancing nursing excellence. We are proud of our strong values-based nursing model and the focus our students, faculty, and alumni have on caring for the whole person and serving others.
As a student, you will enjoy an approximate 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, with classmates who represent more than 40 U.S. states. Nursing@Georgetown students also participate in carefully monitored practicum experiences designed to enhance their education and coursework. NHS faculty and our placement team support students in securing clinical sites and preceptors based upon each their specialty and location.
Connecticut resident and Nursing@Georgetown student Carrie Eaton reports that “Never, in all the schools I have been to, have I ever received so much support and positive feedback from admissions to the start of classes.”
Once you graduate, you become part of a wide and prestigious network of alumni who maintain their connection to Georgetown University for the rest of their lives.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to further my education through this innovative and fun program! I have made what I assume will be lifelong friends and colleagues.” — Nicole Domanski, Nursing@Georgetown student
