Our Response
Throughout the last several weeks, Georgetown University has been guided by two fundamental commitments: ensuring the health and safety of our community and maintaining the continuity and excellence of our academic programs.
The School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS) is working closely with our technology partner to ensure our online graduate nursing programs are operating during this time.
Here are some of the ways we are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Online Programs: Our online nursing programs are positioned to support student learning and personal connection. These programs remain open, with weekly synchronous class sessions held in Zoom classrooms with peers and NHS professors. Faculty in these programs have received extensive preparation in teaching in an online environment.
Digital Campus: The digital campus for our online nursing programs is designed to foster collaboration among all students regardless of location. There are no barriers to discussion, and our students remain active in their coursework, discussions, and research.
Innovation and Advancement: The nation’s oldest Catholic and Jesuit university, Georgetown University embraces the changing times while staying true to its core values. We are always monitoring our online curricula and technology to ensure the most rigorous and engaging experience for NHS students, and our technology partner remains diligent and will continue to assess this experience.
Ongoing Support Services: Our Admissions and Student Support teams remain active and available. You can reach out at any time to speak with a Counselor on either of these teams to ask any questions you have.
In-Person Experiences: Hands-on, in-person learning is an essential element of our comprehensive nursing programs. Placing students in clinical sites is currently a fluid situation given the COVID-19 pandemic. We are working diligently on curricular adaptations, simulation alternatives, and other creative responses to ensure student competencies can be met.
