John Rosselli – Program Director

John Rosselli, RN, MS, CFNP, ACRN, CNE, serves as interim director of the Nurse Educator program.

Georgetown’s Nurse Educator program offers professional nurses the opportunity to combine their clinical experience with a passion for teaching in academic and/or professional development settings.

Grounded in theoretical perspectives of nursing and education, the program prepares graduates for advanced practice roles related to nursing education, educational research and policy, and nurse educator leadership.

The graduate core courses encompass interdisciplinary nursing and science requirements that provide content essential to nurse educators.

The Nurse Educator courses expand and extend knowledge gained in the core, and provide an opportunity for students to confront important issues in education and develop skills as educators.

The program is open to students who are interested in obtaining a master’s degree (35 credits).

The program specialty courses provide students with didactic experience in the following content areas:

  • Educational Philosophies and Learning Theories
  • Curriculum Development, Redesign, and Evaluation
  • Informatics in Learning Environments
  • Assessment of Learning and Teaching Styles
  • The Instructional Design Process
  • Teaching and Learning Strategies
  • Instructional Technologies
  • Online Distance Education
  • Student Assessment
  • Clinical and Laboratory Teaching and Learning
  • Simulation
  • Fundamentals of Leadership
  • Nursing Education Policy
  • Role-Modeling and the Mentor Process

Practicum experiences will be in academic and professional development settings. During their practicum experiences (totaling 275 hours over three semesters), students will:

  • Develop multiple teaching modules using the instructional design process
  • Facilitate modules in the classroom, laboratory and clinical settings
  • Incorporate instructional technologies in to the development of content modules
  • Create and implement student assessment strategies
  • Design and Implement simulation experiences
  • Attend organizational, professional development and academic committee meetings and workshops
  • Design and implement distance learning modules

The program is also committed to offering opportunities in global service learning.

At the conclusion of the master’s program or certificate, eligible graduates will be able to take the examination for the Nursing Professional Development Board Certification offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Corporation, as well as the Certified Nurse Educator credential offered by the National League for Nursing.
