Survey Finds Growth in Hiring for Advanced Practitioners
A new survey of health professionals finds that internal and family medicine are the top priorities for hiring over the next year, with a focus on advanced practitioners.
The survey, conducted by the American Medical Group Association and Cejka Search, a health care recruitment firm, is conducted each year to examine trends in recruitment and retention of medical professionals in medical group practices across the country.
Among survey respondents, the majority of plan to ‘hire more’ or ‘significantly hire more’ advanced practice providers, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants (78%). In the next 12 months, respondents plan to hire slightly more advanced practice providers, such as nurse practitioners. These hirings are primarily in response to planned retirements.
“Finding, hiring and retaining physicians and advanced practitioners has become a paramount objective at a time when shortages exist,” the organizations note in their executive summary to the survey. The complete survey is available online at the AMGA website.
